Four artists, prisoners sentenced to life at San Quentin, became friends. Now each man is held in a different prison, yearning to be heard. After “Prisoners of Beckett”, Award-winning Director Michka Saäl proposes this new film that will plunge into their interrupted lives and into the heart of American maximum security prison system. What does “survival” mean when facing perpetual imprisonment? what becomes of one’s artistic gifts when deprived of liberty ?

MICHKA SAAL, a filmmaker working in both Canada and France, has written and directed documentary and fiction films. Her latest production, PRISONERS OF BECKETT, was selected for the Cannes 2007 Independent Cinema program and nominated for two Canadian Gemini Awards.
