On June 6th, more than 70 american Jazz musicians living in Paris gathered together rue Maurice Utrillo in Montmartre for a group photo entitled “A Great Day In Paris”. The photo, taken by Philippe Lévy-Stab is a homage to Art Kane’s iconic Harlem 1958.
Seeing all those great artists coming from all directions, who by car, who by feet, hugging each other and assembling for the photo was indeed an awesome moment ! Philippe and Ricky Ford, our Master of Ceremony, had a hard time getting everyone ready and steady for the shoot while Michka and her crew were recording those incredible moments on tape. Later on the same day, some joined Ricky Ford at Duc des Lombards for a jam session, and yes, of course, we filmed that too…
The photo is the starting point to Michka Saäl’s A Great Day In Paris doc we are currently developping, and there will be a trailer online soon.
